Here at LGJS we run the Sports Leaders programme through an application process in Year 6. Aspiring coaches / teachers get the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of session design, structure and a very important process called STEP. We also venture in sporting governing bodies and how they approach coach education. Looking at similarities and differences, for example the safety surrounding rugby.

There is opportunity to coach each other in simple activities, learning classroom management, engagement, fun and progress.

As they build their confidence, sports leaders will then organise events in football, charity obstacle courses and roles within sports week. 

The course runs for two terms of the year and gives early indications for pupils that are thinking of working with children in the future. It is not just about sport, but the working with others in positive behaviours, maximising the fun and learning environment.
